New Weight Loss Research Reveals: Drinking Water Works!

This year’s American Chemical Society’s annual meeting reports had some good news for everyone who is trying to figure out the easiest way to lose weight. The new weight loss research shows that you can significantly improve the results of your fast diet by… drinking water! Read on to learn more and know how much water to drink a day to lose weight.

The participants were all on a low-calorie diet like the 1000 calorie diet, and the only difference between the groups was the amount of water they drank. Half of the people were instructed to drink 16 ounces of water (that’s about 500 ml) prior each meal, whereas the other half didn’t get the same instructions. And what happened? 12 weeks later the group drinking water had lost 15 lbs in average compared to the other group’s average weight loss of 11 lbs. One of the most repeated weight loss tips throughout the times has been to drink water, but only now there is research to back this up. Water and weight loss really go hand in hand.

So, drinking water before eating leads to fastest weight loss, but how does water help you lose weight? That is still somewhat a question mark to everyone. One obvious guess is that the people who were drinking a pint of water before their meals were less hungry when dieting and ate less during the meal. Or perhaps the people in the water group were drinking fewer soft drinks. We don’t have details of the low-calorie food regime the people were following, so we cannot tell if soft drinks were actually allowed during the diet. My best guess would be no.

But there is more. Some earlier research has shown that keeping your body hydrated helps the body maintain its metabolism and enhance the cells’ ability to give up their fat. Getting the fat moving is essential for fast fat loss and is also a good way to remove cellulite (to maximize the effects on cellulite, remember to use a cellulite brush). Drinking enough water also supports lipolysis, the body’s ability to break the fat down. And last but not least, drinking enough water gives you more energy, which is generally something that helps you to control your diet. Having enough energy will also push you to do exercises to lose weight, which is not really necessary for weight loss, but is still definitely recommended. Exercising is a good way to tone your body and keep yourself healthy.

We have to remember that the people who were losing weight were following a low-calorie diet. The researchers have not that many results for the low-carbohydrate food regimes yet, but it has already been proven that the low-carb food regime works just as well if not better than the low-calorie regime when it comes to permanent weight loss. Therefore it is likely that you can get the same effects and lose weight quickly with a combination of a carbohydrate conscious lifestyle and remembering to drink water before eating.

Some people like to count their daily calorie requirements and follow their calorie intake whereas some people are happier on a low-carb regime where they get to eat to lose weight. So, your new weight loss program can be any of the weight loss systems out there, just choose the one you feel comfortable with and study carefully how to diet with the system. Then enhance it even further and reach fast weight loss by drinking more water before every single meal. Doesn’t sound that bad!

Just one word of warning. No matter how hard you want to find a fast way to lose weight, don’t drink too much water. It can lead to a condition called water intoxication, which is rare but dangerous.
